    Brief Narrative
    Flier with the heading Message du President des Etats Unis [Message from the US President] issued in French on one side, Arabic on the other, under the signature of Eisenhower as Commander of the American Expeditionary Forces, November 1942. It discusses the long friendship between France and the US and explains that the Allies are invading North Africa in order to liberate the people and destroy their enemies, and will leave when that is done.
    It features a color image of the American flag and a black and white photograph of President Roosevelt in both sides.

[The U.S. President has instructed me General Commander of the American Expeditionary Forces to send this message to the people of French North Africa : No nation is more closely linked , both by history and by deep friendship than are the people of France and friends and the United States of America. Americans are struggling , not only to ensure their future, but to restore freedoms and democratic principles of all those who have lived under the tricolor. We come to you to free yourself from the conquerors who desire only to rob you forever of your sovereign rights, your right to freedom of worship, your right to live your lifestyle in peace. We come to you only to destroy your enemies - we do not want to harm you. We come to you, making sure that we leave as soon as the threat of Germany and Italy has been dissipated. I appeal to your sense of reality and your idealism. Do nothing to hinder the accomplishment of this great purpose. Help us and the coming of the day of universal peace will be hastened.]

    Physical Description
    Rectangular, two-sided, white paper handbill. One side has French text printed in black ink that is repeated in Arabic on the opposite side. Both sides have a color image of an American flag on a light blue background at the top. Near the center is the title in 2 lines in large font. The lower section has a block of text indented on the upper left with a black and white photographic image of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Near the bottom is the signature of Dwight D. Eisenhower; below are his name and title. The lower section on both sides is slightly tinted blue.
