Yoram Shaaf photograph collection

The collection consists of a photograph of Mendel Finkelsztajn [donor's father] taken in 1946; a photograph of Mendel Finkelsztajn and Malka Sztajnberg [donor's mother] taken in Skarżysko-Kamienna, Poland, on September 18, 1938, before their marriage; and a photograph of Malka Finkelsztajn and Jurek Finkelsztajn [donor] on February 25, 1946, in Wrocław, Poland, with an inscription on the back.

Biography
Yoram Shaaf was born Jurek Finkelsztajn on July 31, 1941, in Zdołbunow, Ukraine (near Rovno), to Mendel and Malka Finkelsztajn. Malka, Mendel, and their newborn son, Jurek, were forced into a ghetto soon after the invasion of Germany. In September 1942, probably during the liquidation of the ghetto, Malka Finkelsztajn escaped the ghetto, taking her young son with her. They reached Brześć and found a safe haven with the help of Jan Plećko and his wife, Franciszek Celeda, and Jan Brzozowski.
