Kamal Hachkar, born in 1977 in Tineghir, Morocco, discusses leaving Morocco when he was six months old with his mother to join his father in France; becoming a professor of history; his interests in the Moroccan Jewish culture and visiting Israel and Morocco to pursue this topic; learning Hebrew; his work with the Berber and Muslim communities; organizing cultural evenings around Jewish and Arab poets in Paris; participating in discussions involving Israeli and Palestinian students; and his 2012 documentary film about the memory of the Jews of Tinghir.
