    Alfred Brosan, born on July 20, 1923 in Rodaun, Austria, discusses growing up in Vienna, Austria; fleeing Austria with his parents two weeks after Kristallnacht for Shanghai, China; traveling via Trans-Siberian Railroad from Berlin, Germany to Shanghai; arriving in Shanghai December 1938; his family travelling via boat from Genoa, Italy to Shanghai; his father opening a business; the Japanese occupation; living in the Hongkew Ghetto; his father being forced from his business; and immigrating to the United States in 1949 on the USS General M. C. Meigs just before Communists took control.
