Ursula Gaupp (née Gaup), born on May 8, 1920 in Pforzheim, Germany, discusses her pre-Hitler experiences; her Jewish mother and Christian father; her parents’ divorce; moving with her mother and brother to Hamburg, Germany; the effect of the Nuremberg laws on her family; going to Denmark; moving to Shanghai, China with her mother in 1940; getting married in Shanghai in 1943; and immigrating to the United States in 1948.
