    William Kremer, born on July 22, 1934 in Zagreb, Yugoslavia, discusses hiding in Zagreb after the Nazi invasion, being warned by a German truck driver and smuggled to Trieste, Italy; travelling to Rome with no papers; hiding in a monastery; receiving aid from an Italian policeman, Catholic clergy, and other non-Jews; evacuation to and experience in Fort Ontario detention center in Oswego, New York; and post-war going to Canada before reentry into the United States under the Truman plan.
