    Interview Summary
    Arthur Perlmutter, born on February 26, 1929 in Lodz, Poland, discusses his childhood and family business; the German invasion of Poland; a failed escape; fleeing to Skalat, formation of the Skalat Judenrat; family members going into hiding; creation of the Skalat Ghetto, living in Skalat Ghetto the summer of 1942 till April 1943; his family hiding during the Aktion of the summer of 1942; H?uboczek Wielki labor camp from Nov 1942 to February 1943; Kamionka No. IV labor camp (Skalat) in the spring and summer of 1943; escaping the camp and the liquidation of Skalat with aid from a Judenrat friend; Pavlov's Russian partisans; aid from non-Jews; hiding with his father in the forests surrounding Skalat with various groups from 1943 to 1944; eventually receiving assistance from the Soviet Army; returning to Skalat; living in Ebensee and Cham displaced persons camps in the summer of 1946; living in Wetzlar displaced persons camp in the fall of 1946; living in Paris from 1946 to 1947; immigrating to Cuba in April 1947; and immigrating to the United States in October 1960.
