    Interview Summary
    David Appel, born on March 29, 1920 in Velký Bo?kov, Czechoslovakia, discusses joining a communist anti-fascist group in 1937 or 1938; joining labor battalions fighting against the Nazis; moving all over Hungary from 1941 to October 1943 and the Russian front from 1943 to June 1944; getting sick and going to a hospital in Munkacs; being transferred to a different battalion in Hungary; Germany occuping the region; his deportation to St. Anna labor camp near Graz; living postwar in an unspecified displaced persons camp until May 1945; returning home May 1945 to October 1946; Austria; being caught by the British and sent to Cyprus; arriving in Haifa January 1947; and immigrating to the United States May 24, 1959.
