    Interview Summary
    David Buchman, born on January 24, 1915 in Dobrzyn nad Drweca (Golub-Dobrzyn), Poland, discusses his assimilated Zionist family; living in ?ód? until 1939; joining the Polish Army in September 1939; going to defend Warsaw after the defeat of his unit; being taken prisoner by the Germans; jumping off a train; a Polish peasant hiding him; fleeing to Soviet occupied Poland; being sent to Yaruslav then onto White Russia; fleeing to Uzbekistan from 1939 to 1941 when Germany attacked the Soviet Union; fighting with the Polish Soviet Army in Persia (Iran) from 1941 to 1942 in Tehran then Iraq; volunteering for the air force; England with the RAF from 1942 to 1947; serving in the Israel Defense Forces from 1948 to 1950; and immigrating to the United States in 1951.
