    Interview Summary
    Rachel Mermelstein (née Genuth), born on October 8, 1929 in Sighet, Romania, discusses the Hungarian occupation; her internment in the Sighet ghetto; her internment in Auschwitz concentration camp for seven weeks; cutting stones for roads; forced labor at a munitions plant at Christianstadt (Gross-Rosen) for six months; a six week death march to Bergen-Belsen; traveling to Sweden through the Red Cross in July 1945; her multiple hospitalizations over ten years; and immigrating to the United States on April 2, 1955.
