    Hans Salomon, born on May 11, 1922 in Mannheim, Germany, discusses the impact of anti-Jewish laws in 1935; his family’s deportation to Gurs in 1940, then Rivsaltes; forced labor in Brest for several months; his release through efforts of a European student organization in 1942; having no papers; being first in school, then in hiding with French farmers; receiving help from the French underground; going to Geneva, Switzerland eventually; and immigrating to the United States in 1948.
