    Interview Summary
    Eva Slomovits (née Lax), born on September 6, 1928 in Zarica, Czechoslovakia, discusses her father having immigration documents but the start of the war preventing immigation; Hungarians taking her father’s business away; the harsh conditions under the Hungarians; living in Munkacs ghetto for three weeks; deportation to Auschwitz in April 1944; atrocities; traveling back and forth by train to avoid the Soviets; returning to Auschwitz in September 1944; forced labor in a weaving factory in Neustadt in Oberschlesien (Prudnik) until January 1945; a forced march through Gross-Rosen and Mauthausen to Bergen-Belsen where she was liberated; recuperating from typhus in Bergen, then Celle postwar; and immigrating to the United States in 1948. Sister of Ilona Traeger.
