Breth family collection

Bedrich [Fred] Breth, born 1905 in Dvůr Králové, Czech Republic his wife, Adela Langova Breth, born 1908 in Trest, Czech Republic and their child, Steven, born 1938 in Boras, Sweden. Fred and Adela fled to Sweden in 1938 and Fred then immigrated on to New York where Adela and Steven followed. Documents illustrate Fred and Adela’s pre-war lives in the Czech Republic, including an album that Adela shot and printed of travels before they fled in 1938. Majority of collection are letters written to Fred and Adela in New York [and carbons of Fred’s responses] from Ernst and Hermine, Fred’s parents as well as Fred’s siblings and their families. Ernst and Hermine as well as two of their children and families did not survive the Holocaust. Letters include verbatim translations.
