    (SINGING) Oh, I'll be the war's greatest hero.
    With these guns, I have nothing to fear-o.
    My guns are the best, they can meet any test.
    Oh, I'll be the war's greatest hero.
    Oh, I'm the world's best damn fighting machine-o.
    Them Nazis will learn what I mean-o.
    My wonderful guns will light up them bums,
    and I'll bury them in the latrine-o.
    Wah, let us have (WORDLESS SINGING).
    La ta ta tut tut tut tut tuh.
    Stick 'em up or I'll blow your brains out.
    (SIMULATED GERMAN ACCENT) Ach, what a rifle.
    Comrade!
    [KNEES KNOCKING]
    Hmm, (SINGING) that rifle looks just a bit gooey.
    If you think I am scared, you're plumb screwy.
    Go on, fire away, but your damn gun's full of muck.
    Oh, nothing comes out but just hooey.
    [GUNSHOT]
    [EXTENDED PFFFT]

    (SINGING) Oh, ach, what a gun.
    I'm defeated.
    Such a gun just can't be beated.
    [RAPID GUNFIRE]
    [EXTENDED COUGHING]
    [DESCENDING TONE]
    [TAPPING]
    [TSK-TSKING]
    (SIMULATED GERMAN ACCENT) That gun was neglected.
    No water connected.
    No wonder it got overheated.
    Now, in the German Army, mein leiber Herr,
    our weapons work fine because we give them great care.
    [BOING]
    [HIGH-PITCHED SQUEAK]
    (SINGING) Oh, ach, now I'm sunk, I am tinking.
    Oh, you're perfectly safe, I am thinking.
    It's musty and dusty and mighty damn rusty,
    (SINGING) conditions inside are just stinking.
    Really, they are.
    [EXHALATION]
    [WIND WHISTLING]
    [FRENETIC MUSIC]
    [FEEBLE ENGINE]
    What a dummkopf.
    What a clown.
    Just the kind of boob who lets his battery run down.
    [WORDLESS SOUNDS]
    [EXPLOSION]
    [MELODIC MUSIC]
    (SINGING) Though like all careless gents,
    he winds up behind fence.
    Snafu is the world's greatest zero.

    Overview

    Description
    The Private SNAFU series of adult cartoon shorts (1943-1945) was made to instruct American service personnel about security, proper sanitation habits and other military subjects, and to improve troop morale. Private SNAFU (Situation Normal All Fouled Up), produced by the US Army Signal Corps, was originally created by Theodore Geisel (better known as Dr. Seuss) and Phil Eastman.

    In Episode 6, "Fighting Tools," Private SNAFU learns the lessons of weapons maintenance.
