    Description
    The collection includes photographs depicting the Dora-Mittelbau concentration camp during liberation that were given to Edward Franey Jr. who served in the 104th Signal Company, 104th Infantry Division during WWII. Included are images of survivors and forced reburials by Germans. The back of the photographs include annotations from Edward about his recollections from when the photographs were taken.

    Biography
    Edward W. Franey Jr. (1922-2020) was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1922 to Edward (1892-1969) and Theresa (née Miller, 1894-1996) Franey and had nine siblings. Edward served in the United States Army in the 104th Signal Company, 104th Infantry Division. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and liberated the Dora-Mittelbau concentration camp near Nordhausen, Germany. Edward married Janet Hahn in 1945 and had four children: Barbara, Joyce, Dorothy, and Scott.
