Sadie Rurka Hofstein, a member of the Jewish Committee for Relief Abroad (JCRA) during World War II, describes being sent to Bergen-Belsen a few weeks after the war ended when she was 22 years old; being assigned as a child welfare officer to be in charge of the children's home, which included 83 orphaned children; handling the formation of the children’s home; and working in Bergen-Belsen for a year until the children went to England before going to Palestine.
