Class portrait of the third grade at the Juedische Volksschule in Munich.

On November 25, 1941 sixteen of these children were sent to Kaunas, Lithuania, where they were shot in the Ninth Fort.

Among those pictured are: top row: the teacher, Julius Kissinger (top row, left); Jacki Alster (top row, second from the left), Manni Busch (top row, third from the left), Manni Busch's younger brother (top row, fourth from the left), Erich Kupfer (an orphan from the Jewish orphanage in Munich, who was later deported to Auschwitz, top row, fourth from the right), and Harald Zernik (who was also deported to Auschwitz).

Second row from the top: Ester Berger (an orphan who was later deported to Auschwitz, left), Ricki Leidel (third from the left), Eva Blutenberg and her sister Ruth (eighth and ninth from the left), Susie Scherz (ninth from the right), Bertl Sandbank (who was later deported to Auschwitz, fourth from the right).

Third row from the top: Guenter Hess (left), Manfred Pollak (an orphan, who was later deported to Auschwitz, eighth from the left), and Hilde Weissmann (at the extreme right). [oversized print]
