Members of an international commission investigating German war crimes visit Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Hewlett Johnson, Dean of Canterbury, is pictured in the center.

After the war, the donor, Naftali Saleschütz, assisted the work of the international commission headed by Hewlett Johnson, Dean of Canterbury, that was engaged in investigating German war crimes. In this capacity, Naftali visited most of the concentration camps in Poland and photographed them extensively.
