Two religious Jews are forced to pose in a public square in an unidentified ghetto.

Photograph | Photograph Number: 18156

Two religious Jews are forced to pose in a public square in an unidentified ghetto.

The man at the right wears a prayer shawl.

The photograph was likely taken by a member of the SS, probably in the first full year of the German occupation, before the establishment of the ghetto. German personnel tended to photograph Jews, especially religious Jews, in ghettos in Poland due to their appearance, which was considered unique.
