A group of partisans from various fighting units including the Bielski group and escapees from the Mir Ghetto on guard duty at an airstrip in the Naliboki Forest.

Among those pictured is Commander Nowiczki, standing first on the right; Joseph Kozlowski (now Kazlow), top row, second from right; Solomon Golanski is pictured at the bottom right; Josef Kessler is in the center wearing a short white sleeve shirt; [Behind him might be Hershl Goldhamer; Seated in the center might be Esia Schorr (a cousin of the Bielskis)]; Standing second from the left is Zeev Schriber; Sitting third from the left (below the standing woman partisan ) is Berkowitz; both from Mir Ghetto; Gershon Seigel (b. 1926, Slonim) is standing third from the right. Yehuda Bielski (later Bell) is lying down with his gun in the front row, center. Pictured seated second from the right is Saul Schadnow. Pictured standing in the back row, sixth from the right is Judith (Yudis) Ginsburg (Kosczeinska). She was 19 years old at the time of the photograph. She was from Lida and escaped the train to Majdenek. After her escape she joined the Raschinsky otriad, a unit composed of Russian paratroopers. She spent the last five months of the war with the Bielski partisan group.
