Survivors liberated by Japanese-American troops with the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion line the road into the town of Waakirchen where U.S. forces set up a field hospital to care for them.
The survivors are Jews from Kovno, who were liberated near the town of Waakirchen while on a death march from the Dachau sub-camp of Kaufering.
