American Olympic runner Jesse Owens and other Olympic athletes compete in the twelfth heat of the first trial of the 100m dash.
Owen won the race. He ultimately took first place in the event, finishing the race in 10.2 seconds, a record time; however, the record was disallowed by German officials, who claimed that Owens had had the benefit of a tailwind.
