    Alien Certificate of Registration issued to Herta Knopfmacher.
    Alien Certificate of Registration issued to Herta Knopfmacher. This certificate allowed Herta Knopfmacher, an Austrian Jew, to enter Great Britain as a refugee from Hitler on condition that she not seek any employment other than domestic service. The certificate had to be stamped by the local police department each time she changed residences. The final stamp marks her departure to the United States in 1946.
