The German inscription on the back of the photograph reads, "They [Polish snipers] shot at us from this house" [the apartment building on the right behind them].

One photograph from an album belonging to a member of a Wehrmacht machine gunners' unit, which was found after the war by Lorenzo Hawkins (the donor's grandfather), an American serviceman in Company B, 56th Armored Engineer Battalion.
