Portrait of a large family in Raduati, Romania taken on the occasion of visiting relatives from Canada.
From left to right. Front row: Marice Kastner, Sidney Kastner, Osias (Osy) Kastner. Middle row: David Schwamenthal, Srul Kastner, Malka Kastner and Sophie Kastner. Back row: Edith Schwmenthal Kastner, Avrum Kastner, Rose (Koka) Kastner, Clara Schwamenthal Kastner, Yankel Kastner and Bella Kastner.
Avrum Kastner, Clara Kastner, Yankel Kastner, David Schwamenthal, and Srul and Malka Kastner all perished in Transnistria. Sophie Kastner was shot and killed by the Iron Guard during the Radauti deportation in October 1941. Rose and Sidney Kastner returned to Canada having been unsuccessful in persuading their families to join them. Bella and Osias Kastner were brought up by their aunt Edith Kastner in Raduati following their liberation from Transnistria.
