    Biography
    Josef and Rachel (Bunis) Gruenfeld (later Greenfield). Josef was born on February 13, 1919 in Dabie, Poland. After surviving several concentration camps, including Mauthausen, he worked for the 331st U.S. Infantry Division performing various tasks, among them photography. In 1946, Gruenfeld met and married Rachel Bunis (b. Kowal, Poland) in the Braunau displaced persons' camp. Josef took extensive photographs in Braunau, Ebelsberg, Ranshofen, Steyr, Bindermichl, and Muenichholtz before immigrating to the United States in February 1949. Their son David Schlama Greenfield was born February 3, 1947 in the Braunau displaced persons camp.
