    Event History
In late spring 1945, members of Gordonia secretly departed from Krakow for Czechoslovakia in the hope of reaching Palestine. They traveled some sixty kilometers to the town of Nowy Targ where they were met by members of an antisemitic Polish group, the N.S.Z. Five survivors murdered on April 20, 1945 and an additional thirteen were murdered on May 2, 1945. Upon hearing the news, other members of Gordonia retrieved their bodies and brought them back to Krakow. There they erected a memorial in their honor in the Jewish cemetery of Krakow.
