- Biography
- Florence and Eleanor Coslow are the daughters of Sophie and Izhak (Irving) Kozlowsky. Sophie was the daughter of Feiga and Elijahu Suchowolsky. She was born in Sochowola Poland. She immigrated to the United States in 1913 but came back a few years later to visit her family. During this trip she met Izhak Kozlowski. They married in Suchowola and returned together to America. Sophie had seven siblings. She had two older sisters sho remained in Suchowola. Her oldest sister Breina Schmidt had a son Moishe. Before the war she and Sophie exchanged several letters in an attempt to get affidavits to America for Moishe. Sadly Sophie was not successful and Moishe and his parents all perished. The next sister Gruna, worked as a midwife and was married to Yossel. She and her family also perished in the Holocaust. The next three siblings also emigrated before the war. Chaim and David came to the United Sates, and Gerson went to England. The next brother, Issac was married to Fania. He owned a factory in Vilna. Both he and his wife perished in the Holocaust, but his children had immigrated to Palestine and survived. The next brother Velvel had served as mayor of Suchowola. He remained in Poland and perished in Auschwitz. His children however survived and went to Israel. Letters are between Sophie and Breina about trying to get affidavits for Moishe Schmidt (Breina's son). Sophie was not successful and he perished.
Izhak (Irving) Kozlowsky was the son of Moshe and Chaya Kozlovski. He was born in Traby, near Nowogrodek where he was a Hebrew teacher. His youngest sister Eliza moved to Palestine and later also came to America. However, Izhak's father and three other siblings Reuven, Yehudit and Shifra, perished in the Holocaust.
