- Biography
- Sylvia Rozines (born Cywia Perelmuter) is the daughter of Icek Mendel Perelmuter and Chaja Wolfman. She was born on January 20, 1935 in Lodz, Poland where her father (born in 1903) worked in a wholesale flour and sugar cooperative. Cywia had one older sister, Dwora, born in 1927. About half a year after the German invasion of Poland, all the Jews of Lodz were confined to a ghetto. In September 1940 Cywia attended school in the Lodz ghetto but later after the schools closed, she worked with her mother in the bra and corset workshop. Her father delivered flour to the ghetto bakery. The family was among those chosen to clean the ghetto and in that way avoided deportation.
