- Asher Zidon (born Fetherhar, the father of the donor) was born on September 29, 1909 in Lomazy (Lomza), Poland. He was the son of David Fetherhar and Genendle Goldman Fetherhar. He had four siblings. The eldest was killed in the Polish army. The rest of the family, except for a sister Ester, perished were killed in 1942 by the Nazis. In the 1920s Asher studied in the Zetel and Kaminetz Yeshivas. He was active in the Religious Zionist, Tora veAvoda, Movement in Poland and taught Hebrew in Parzov, Vortvi and the Hachshara Kibutzim. He managed the Mizrachi HeHalutz Hachshara in Warsaw. In 1936 he immigrated to Palestine where he served as secretary of the Labor Center (Merkaz Avoda) of Hapoel Hamizrachi and secretary of the national Association of diamond workers. He was a delegate to the Congress of Diamond Workers in Antwerp, Belgium. In 1939 he wed Sarah Chizwick of Warsaw. In 1961 he graduated from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem with a BA in History and Political Science. He was an active member of the National Religious Party. He was Deputy Secretary of the Temporary National Committee, later the Israeli Parliament (the Knesset). He was a delegate to the conference of Secretaries of Parliaments in Dublin and The Hague. He wrote several books and articles on the Israeli Parliament. Asher and Sara have three children Elisha, Haggai and Ariella.
