    Biography
    Stefan Ben Zion Honig was born on July 3, 1922 in Bekescsaba, Hungary, to Jewish parents Aladar Honig and Irene (nee Banyai) Honig. He was a technical draftsman. After his arrest in November 1941 in Ljubljana, Yugoslavia, he was sent to forced labor in Italy, in the municipalities of Falcade and Cencenighe Agordino, Belluno Province, Italy. On September 8, 1943, he escaped to Rome, where he participated in the resistance. He remained there until he was liberated on June 3, 1944. Stefan emigrated from Italy to Palestine in March 1945, arriving in Haifa on board the "Princess Katlyn." He married Emma Di Capua in Rome on December 12, 1952, and their daughter was born on September 30, 1954.
