Photograph | Photograph Number: 04082

A group of Jewish prisoners from Oranienburg (Trup 8 Coepenick) at forced labor repairing railroad tracks in front of the Rahnsdorf train station.

The donor, Lutz Haase, is pictured in the center, chained to his jack hammer. The Nazi foreman of the labor brigade is pictured next to Haase with his hands on his hips. At the far left is a Jewish prisoner who was about to be given temporary leave from the camp to visit his wife and newborn in a hospital in Berlin, when a camp guard, who was stationed at the entrance gate to Oranienburg, intentionally re-activated the electrified fence as he was leaving. When the prisoner touched the gate he was electrocuted.
