    Overview

    Summary
In 1939 over 900 Jews boarded the St. Louis, on their way from Nazi Germany to Cuba. When Cuba refused to allow the passengers to land, the ship sailed to the Miami area, where the U.S. government also barred their entrance. The refugees sailed back to Europe, where most ended up in countries that were subsequently occupied by Germany.
