    Interview Summary
    Carol Steinhardt discusses her childhood in a village near Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany; her education; the antisemitism she experienced; her experiences in November 1938 during Kristallnacht; her time in a police station with her other schoolmates; her father's arrest; her deportation to a labor camp in Berlin in 1941; the work she performed in a munitions factory; being transferred to Auschwitz in 1943; the conditions in Auschwitz; suffering from illness; her experiences in Auschwitz and her despair; being transferred to Majdanek; the psychological aftermath of her experiences in the camps, as well as her decision to speak in public about that time.
