    Interview Summary
    Tadashi Matsumoto describes his childhood in Hawaii; his desire to demonstrate his loyalty to the United States by joining the army in 1943; going to basic training at Camp Shelworth in Mississippi and his encounters with segregation in the American South; his experiences overseas, including the campaign through Italy and Southern France; and the inmates of Dachau and his sudden realization that concentration camps existed.
