    Biography
Cynthia Kauffmann is the widow of Edward Kauffman. He served as an infantryman in the 166th Yankee Division. Edward Kauffman was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge in late December 1944, and was sent back to England to recover. After returning to the theater, he participated in the liberation of Buchenwald and owing to his knowledge of Yiddish served as a translator with the liberated prisoners. He returned to home in October 1945, five months after the end of the war.
