    Overview

    Summary
When the horrors of the Nazi occupation of Europe were made manifest, countless millions stood aside and let the machinery of death grind forward. Raoul Wallenberg, a Swedish diplomat did not. Posted in Budapest at the height of the Third Reich, he used his diplomatic standing to issue immunity passes he was not authorized to grant and as many as 100,000 people from the gas chambers. But he disappeared in 1945, never to be seen again. Was he killed by the Nazis he thwarted for so long? A & E follows the trails uncovered by his family, researchers and governments in the search of the truth.
