- Summary
- An aging Holocaust survivor returns after 60 years to the site of the infamous concentration camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau (Birkenau translates into English as "a birch-tree meadow") to relive memories of those terrible days. There, she meets another sightseer, a young German photographer whose grandfather had been an SS colonel who played a major role in organizing this and other camps.
