Overview
- Summary
- Born in Budapest in 1944, just days before all hospitals there would be closed to Jews, Maria Krenz has lived a life riddled with contradictions: a Jew raised Catholic, a Young Pioneer whose idealism was crushed, a fatherless 12-year-old who dodged bullets during the Hungarian Revolution in order to get food. In 1957 she emigrated to Venezuela, and from there to the United States in 1964. This book is her personal and family memoir of turmoil in a shifting world.
