Overview
- Summary
- In both V. and Gravity's Rainbow, Thomas Pynchon conflates the Holocaust with the Herero genocide of the early twentieth century. My project investigates the cultural and political aims of this strategy in terms of what I see as Pynchon's own desire to, on the one hand, testify to the Herero genocide, a silenced history in modern Western history, and, on the other, provide an alternative history to the Holocaust itself.
