Overview
- Summary
- A documentary examining the indifference of the majority of the Dutch population during WWll, when 80% of the Jewish population was deported and killed--the highest percentage in western Europe. The filmmaker concentrates on the city of Groningen, and includes the story of his own family, in which his parents were saved by Dutch gentiles, but his aunt and uncle were betrayed by their fellow citizens and killed in Auschwitz. Also considered is the period following the war, when the surviving Dutch Jews returned to find that they faced continued anti-Semitism.
