- Summary
- After escaping from Nazi Germany, along with his parents, on the eve of World War II in 1939, Colorado College professor Fred Sondermann returned to Horn, Germany in 1969. Most of his friends and family, including his beloved grandmother, perished in the Holocaust. This first person narrative based on Dr. Sondermann's memoirs from that time, takes the viewer along on the journey. He walks the viewer through the experience of the return, contemplating victimization, the nature of blame, the appropriate issuance of forgiveness, and the conclusions of an American Jew returning to his German past.
