Overview
- Summary
- Two fragments of tombstones recovered from the Jewish cemetery in Thessaloniki, Greece, were donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2011. One marker is dedicated to Liaos (Elihau) Mevorah, one of the 513 Greek Jews who were killed in combat from 1940-1941, during the war to resist the invasion of Greece by Germany and Italy. The second is dedicated to a young woman and her newborn child who both died during childbirth. The cemetery was destroyed in December 1942 by the German occupation troops.
