Evaluation report : Yad Vashem ICHEIC International Seminars, 2005 Annette Koren.

Publication

In 2005, the International Commission for Holocaust Era Insurance Claims (ICHEIC) gave its support to development of Yad Vashem’s International Seminars, a ten-year program designed to transform the way in which the Holocaust is taught in Europe. The Cohen Center for Modern Jewish Studies at Brandeis University evaluated Year 1, the pilot phase of the project. The research included surveys of all participants and interviews with 36 educators from four of the countries represented in the program. Yad Vashem’s International School continues to develop, improve, and tailor the ICHEIC seminars for the needs of the countries it serves while, at the same time, it reaches out to various national groups within those countries. This practice assures a greater understanding of the Holocaust and its meaning throughout Europe.
