Overview
- Summary
- Americans came to liberate not conquer: American soldiers - Holocaust survivors reunion 2009 presented by Hudson Falls Central School District in association with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, September 22-26, 2009. The reunion was organized to reunite Holocaust survivors and Army veterans and to commemorate the events of April 13, 1945. On that date, members of the United States Army 30th Infantry Division discovered a train abandoned by the German army near Magdeburg, Germany. The chance encounter saved the lives of many children and Jewish families who were being transported from Bergen-Belsen to another death camp location.
