    Summary
    In 1947 Holocaust survivors find refuge in a camp in Puglia, among them Professor Tannen and Dina, the fiancee of his son David. With the help of Lieutenant Arie they succeed in stowing away on a ship bound for Palestine where David is engaged in the struggle for Israeli independence.
