- Summary
- This book recounts Sebastatsi Murad's (Murad of Sebastia) journey when he escaped arrest in 1915 until he reached the Russian port of Batum in the same year. With this escape, he became an eyewitness to the deportations of the Armenians for his home province of Sebastia (Sivas) and its neighboring areas and the massacres and outrages that took place on the roads to exile. Having found refuge in the mountains, Murad and his comrades, became convinced that the only way out of the Turkish hell and in order to continue the struggle it is necessary to go to the Caucasus and join the Armenian volunteer fighting units there. The book presents also the selfless help provided by the Pontic Greeks in their home settlements, where they had become eyewitnesses to the Armenian Genocide. The book is intended for a wide range of readers.
