Overview
- Summary
- The ship St. Louis left Nazi Germany on May 13, 1939 with over 900 Jewish refugees bound for Cuba to escape Adolph Hitler's Third Reich. Despite insurance's Cuba refused them entry. For these refugees returning to Hitler's Germany would mean facing hatred, persecution and almost certain death. Archival footage, plus interviews with survivors document this experience of refugees.
