Overview
- Summary
- On Sept. 13, 1944, 52 toddlers from the Westerbork concentration camp were transported to Bergen-Belsen. Because their identity was not known, they were registered in camp records as "Gruppe Unbekannte Kinder" (Unknown children). All but one survived Bergen-Belsen and Theresienstadt camps and they returned to the Netherlands in the summer of 1945. Too young to have concrete memories of their experiences, their stories have been largely ignored. Eight of the children talk about how their lives have been affected by World War II.
