Overview
- Summary
- In 1941 Wehrmacht Sergeant Heinz Joest celebrated his forty-third birthday by illegally photographing inside the Warsaw Ghetto. The photographs remained hidden for over forty years. Here combined with readings from ghetto diaries, Yiddish songs, and klezmer music, the images record a tragic era, but also show the spirit of the doomed inhabitants of the ghetto.
